Madam Stoltz is specialized in Interior decoration · from textiles to industrial furnitures and lamps, from practical accessories to cozy need-to-haves. The Madam Stoltz products are sold in shops all over Europe. The inspiration to the name MADAM STOLTZ comes from India · as so much else in the life of Pernille Stoltz.
”The Indians are very polite and always addresses me with ’Madam’. In 1995, when I should name my first shop, Madam Stoltz was the first name on my mind, and I have sticked to the name ever since”.
Pernille Stoltz is running Madam Stoltz in a partnership with her husband Peter Bundgaard. Pernille is the designer and responsible for the contact to the suppliers in India and China. Peter is looking after the logistics and the finances. In Nexø, at the eastcoast of Bornholm, you will find the headoffice of Madam Stoltz. A former furniture factory has been completely renovated and is now the base for Pernille, Peter and the 25 employees · and the little dog Carlo, doing his best to keep the stress level down.
Pernille Stoltz has a very close and long lasting co-operation with the Indian suppliers producing her designs. The journeys to India fills her with inputs and impressions. Impressions which again are turned into ideas and developments after returning to Bornholm.
The nature of Bornholm is an ongoing source of inspiration. The island is home to many artists and craftsmen finding their creative inspiration directly from the rocky ground · just like Pernille.
”The contrasts between India and Bornholm are enormous. After returning from India it usually takes a couple of days for all impressions to settle and hereafter the ideas starts to originate. India and Bornholm is indeed a strong cocktail”, Pernille smiles.
